What‘s on |
The construction of the H3 bases on the „Auto – Union A 1500“, a development of the Wanderer-Werke. The Horch H3 is driven by a „Maybach“ 6-cylinder-engine type HL 42, a leftover from war-production. The whole construction of the „A1500“ was revised in a way, that finally a vehicle with a payload of three tons was the result. After all resources had been used up, the production of the Horch H3 ended. In the meantime, engineers had developed a replacement model — the H3A. Until 1958, the H3A was produced in a number of units of 30,000. After that, the production of commercial vehicles ended in Zwickau.
The club-owned Horch H3 was nearly reconstructed with original parts and is therefore quite true to the original. Undoubtedly, it was one of our costly projects. For this reason, we want to thank everybody who helped us and we hope we can welcome as much as visitors. |
A masterpiece is done! Our garage workers and, especially, our Chairman for many years, Klaus Rudolph, rebuilt a copy of one of the most unique german commercial vehicles — the Horch H3. The truck represents the beginning of the commercial vehicle production in the saxon city of Zwickau after 1945. Of the once originally built 852 Horch H3 just a handful are existent now. |

We are proud to present you one more masterpiece of former Saxon commercial vehicle production — a IFA H 6 B/L. It took us a long time to restore this vehicle. Now one can see a true to the original and fully operative bus out of the 1950s. |

New at our exhibition: IFA H 6 B/L |
Following the concept of the lorry H 6, the VEB Kraftfahrzeugwerk „Ernst Grube“ in Werdau developed in the beginning 1950s its first bus, the H 6 B. Built in several variations, the H 6 B was used as a regular bus, a city bus or as a coach. The bus is driven by a water-cooled 6-cylinder-engine, type Horch/Schönebeck EM 6-20, with a cubic capacity of 9,036 cm³ and a power output of 120 hp. The H 6 B was produced from 1954 to 1959 in a number of units of 1,910. In 1959, as es result of a political decision, the production ended up. From there on, the GDR imported all the needed busses from Hungary (Ikarus) or Czech Republic (Skoda). |

New at our exhibition: MAGIRUS Löschgruppenfahrzeug SLG,Canadian Military Pattern (CMP), Barkas B 1000-3 |
From May 2008 on, visitors can enjoy three currently restored highlights. The first vehicle, a MAGIRUS Löschgruppenfahrzeug SLG, was built in 1942 at the Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG and is equiped with an 4-cylinder-diesel-engine (70 hp). The fire engine could be restored by our excellent workshop-team. Painted in „fir-green“, its is true to the original. The technical equipment is nearly complete an also true to the original. The community of Hartmannsdorf bought a similar vehicle in 1942 at a price for 20.635,95 Reichsmark (RM).
The second vehicle, a Canadian Military Pattern (CMP), was build in between 1939 an 1945 by Ford-Canada and Chevrolet-Canada with an total amount of 350,000. The military vehicles were deployed at all war arenas of world war II. Unusual for a North American truck is the right-hand placed steering as well as the gas pedal in between clutch and brake pedal. This offers you an interesting driving experience! Our CMP is equiped with an Chevrolet 6-cylinder-engine with a cubic capacity of 3,548 cm³, generating 85 hp. |

The third vehicle, the B 1000-3, is an genuin Saxon three-axle tow truck built in 1981 at the VEB Barkas Werke Hainichen. The vehicle is equiped with an water-cooled 3-cylinder-two-time-engine with a cubic capacity of 992 cm³ (50 hp). Der tow truck is front-driven an reaches a top speed of 95 km/h. The total payload of the B 1000-3 is 1.600 kg. |
